LDPE 2420F

Low Density Polyethylene 2420F

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) 2420F, also known as Lupolen 2420F, is a versatile polymer produced by LyondellBasell. This non-additivated, low-density polyethylene is known for its excellent melt strength and bubble stability during blown film extrusion. Delivered in pellet form, LDPE 2420F is widely used in various applications due to its unique characteristics. LDPE 2420F has a melt flow rate of 0.75 g/10 min at 190°C/2.16 kg, a density of 0.923 g/cm³, and a tensile modulus of 260 MPa. Its tensile stress at yield is 11 MPa, and it exhibits impressive tensile strength in both machine direction (MD) and transverse direction (TD), with values of 26 MPa and 24 MPa, respectively. The material also boasts high tensile strain at break, with 300% in MD and 600% in TD. These properties make LDPE 2420F suitable for a range of demanding applications.

Applications of LDPE 2420F

LDPE 2420F is used in a wide range of applications due to its excellent properties. Some of the primary applications include:

Surface Protection Film: The polymer’s excellent optical properties and durability make it suitable for surface protection films used in various industries. These films protect surfaces from scratches, dust, and other contaminants during manufacturing and transportation.

Agriculture Film: LDPE 2420F is commonly used in the production of agriculture films that protect crops from pests, diseases, weather, and UV radiation. These films also help improve soil quality and water retention.

Bags and Pouches: The polymer’s high tensile strength and flexibility make it ideal for manufacturing bags and pouches used for storing and transporting various goods, such as food, chemicals, textiles, and waste.

Food Packaging Film: LDPE 2420F is widely used in food packaging films due to its good optical properties and processability. The material provides a reliable barrier to moisture and contaminants, ensuring the freshness and safety of food products.

Hygiene Film: The polymer’s high tensile strength and flexibility make it suitable for hygiene films used in products such as diapers, sanitary napkins, and surgical gowns. These films require materials that can withstand stretching and bending without tearing.

Shrink Film: LDPE 2420F is also used in shrink films, which are employed in packaging applications to secure and protect goods during transportation. The material’s ability to shrink tightly around products ensures stability and protection.
